I began working in mixed media while still a student at the Rhode Island School of Design, using paper found in trash cans for my first paintings. Over the years I have diversified the materials I use and refined my techniques of applying them. Early on I noted that viewers enjoy touching my paintings, so I use a glaze to protect the artwork while allowing the viewer to interact with the art.
My subject matter is based upon my experiences as an urban female storyteller; however I feel my paintings have a universal appeal. Viewers of both sexes have shared much insight into my work, often applying their own emotions and experiences to the subject. It is so satisfying to hear that viewers not only understand what I am trying to convey, but are deeply touched by my art as well. My work is very personal to me. Each piece is literally like a daughter.
My mission is to provide unique, original art at affordable prices while offering professional service with a personal touch. I intentionally create work that is display ready so that there is no need to spend additional money on framing. I use a wide range of mixed media in all my paintings: from vintage paper and antique photographs to Italian inks, graffiti paint and Sharpie markers.
I appreciate your interest in my work and I hope that it speaks to you in a heartfelt way.
